01What joballa is
joballa is a marketplace that connects workers with employers in Cameroon. We provide the technology that lets workers present their skills, lets employers post work, and lets both sides find each other, agree on work, and move payment.
joballa is not an employer. We are not a party to any agreement between a worker and an employer. We do not employ workers, we do not set wages or working conditions, we do not supervise how work is performed, and we do not guarantee that any job will be offered, accepted or completed.
The agreement for any work is between the worker and the employer directly. Each of them is responsible for complying with Cameroonian labour, tax and social security law as it applies to their relationship.
02Who can use joballa
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
- You must provide accurate information about yourself or your business
- You must use the platform only for lawful purposes
We may refuse, suspend or close any account that does not meet these requirements.
03Your account
You must give accurate and complete information when you create an account, and keep it up to date. One person or business may hold one account of each type. You may not create an account on someone else's behalf without their authorisation.
You are responsible for keeping your password and device secure, and for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately at info@joballa.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Verification
Some features require identity verification. You confirm that any identity or business document you submit is genuine, current and belongs to you or your business. Submitting a forged or altered document is grounds for immediate closure of your account and may be reported to the authorities.
A verification badge means joballa reviewed documents provided at a point in time. It is not a guarantee of any user's honesty, solvency, competence or future conduct. Use your own judgement before agreeing to work or to pay.
04Rules for everyone
You must not:
- Post false, misleading or fraudulent information, including fake jobs or fake profiles
- Impersonate another person or business, or misrepresent your association with one
- Post work that is illegal, unsafe, or that involves anyone under 18
- Discriminate unlawfully in a job posting or a hiring decision
- Ask a worker to pay a fee in order to be considered, hired, or paid
- Ask for another user's password or payment credentials, such as a Mobile Money PIN
- Harass, threaten, abuse or defame another user
- Take conversations off the platform in order to defraud the other party
- Scrape or harvest data from the platform, or use it to build a competing service
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
- Use the platform to launder money or finance any illegal activity
We use automated systems and human review to detect breaches of these rules. Content that breaks them may be removed, and the account responsible may be suspended or closed.
05If you are a worker
- The information on your profile, including skills, experience, education and certifications, must be truthful and your own
- You decide which jobs to apply for and which to accept
- You are responsible for performing the work you agree to, to the standard agreed with the employer
- You are responsible for your own tax and social security obligations
- You must not accept work you are not legally permitted or qualified to perform
06If you are an employer
- Your job postings must describe real, available work accurately, including the pay, the location and what is required
- You must pay the agreed amount for work that has been completed as agreed
- You must comply with all applicable labour law, including law on wages, working hours, safety and non-discrimination
- You must keep worker personal data confidential and use it only to assess and engage that worker
- You are responsible for your own hiring decisions
07Payments and fees
Employers can fund a wallet on the platform and pay workers through it using MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money. Payment instructions are executed by the relevant Mobile Money provider. joballa is not a bank and does not hold funds as a deposit-taking institution.
Platform fees
joballa does not currently charge any fee to workers or employers. If we introduce fees in the future, we will tell you clearly and in advance, and you will be able to decide whether to continue using the platform before any fee applies to you. We will never charge a worker a fee to apply for or be considered for a job.
You are responsible for giving the correct Mobile Money number. We are not liable for money sent to a wrong number that you provided. Where a payment fails, the Mobile Money provider's rules and timelines apply to any reversal.
You cannot delete an employer account while its wallet still holds a balance. Withdraw or settle the balance first.
08Ratings and reviews
After work, users may rate and review each other. Reviews must be honest, based on genuine first-hand experience, and free of abusive, discriminatory or unlawful content. You must not offer or accept anything in exchange for a review, or post a review about yourself or a competitor.
We do not edit reviews to change their meaning. We may remove a review that breaks these terms. Reviews remain on the platform after an account is deleted, but are detached from the deleted user's personal details so the other party keeps an accurate history.
09Disputes between users
Any dispute about work, quality or payment is between the worker and the employer. You should try to resolve it directly first.
joballa provides a dispute process on the platform. If you raise a dispute, we may look at the records we hold — the job posting, the application, the engagement and any payment records — and we may decide what happens on the platform, such as releasing or withholding a payment held in the wallet.
Our role is limited to the platform. Our decision does not determine your legal rights and does not prevent either party from pursuing a claim through the Cameroonian courts.
10Content and intellectual property
You keep ownership of everything you upload — your profile, documents, job postings, reviews and other content. By uploading it, you grant joballa a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display it, only to the extent necessary to operate the platform and provide the service to you. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the anonymised records described in the Privacy Policy.
You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
The platform itself — including the joballa name, logo, design, text and software — belongs to joballa and is protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from it without our written permission.
11Suspension and closure
You may stop using the platform at any time and delete your account in the app, on the website, or by emailing info@joballa.com. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is deleted and what is kept.
We may suspend or close your account, with notice where reasonably possible, if you breach these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or illegal activity, if you submit a forged verification document, or if we are required to do so by law.
If your account is closed, open job postings are closed and you lose access to the platform. Obligations that by their nature survive — including payment for work already completed — remain in force.
12Availability of the service
We work to keep the platform available and working, but we provide it “as is”. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and we will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.
13Our responsibility, and its limits
joballa is a venue where workers and employers find each other. We do not control and are not responsible for:
- The truthfulness of anything a user tells you about themselves, their business, their skills or their needs
- Whether an employer pays, or whether a worker turns up and does the work properly
- The quality, safety or legality of any work offered or performed
- Any injury, loss or damage arising out of work arranged through the platform
- Anything that happens between users away from the platform
To the fullest extent permitted by Cameroonian law, joballa is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, income, business or data, arising from your use of the platform. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the total fees you paid to joballa in the twelve months before the claim, or 50,000 XAF.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
14Indemnity
You agree to indemnify joballa against any claim, loss or cost, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your breach of these terms, your breach of the law, or your dealings with another user, except to the extent the claim is caused by our own breach or negligence.
15Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When a change is significant, we will notify you in the app, by email, or both, before it takes effect, and update the date above. If you continue to use the platform after the change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the platform and delete your account.
16Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon. Any dispute between you and joballa that cannot be resolved amicably falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Yaounde, Cameroon.
- If any provision of these terms is held invalid, the rest remain in force
- If we do not enforce a right, we do not waive it
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours as part of a business transfer
- These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and joballa about the platform
